the htc evo – first look
Ever since the iPhone took the market by storm, people have been quick to label new devices as “iPhone killers.” However, none have really hit the mark. Yesterday, the HTC EVO was announced, and while it isn’t going to take down Apple’s giant on it’s own, it looks like an awfully promising phone. It is coming to Sprint first, and as a Sprint customer, that greatly increases my interest in this device. (more…)

ncaa update: east and west
This year’s NCAA tournament has been one of the most memorable in recent years. The first two rounds have been littered with close games and upsets at a level that I cannot recall. Unfortunately, it’s also wreaked havoc on my bracket and many others, but in all honesty, I don’t mind that much.
The tournament will resume on Thursday, with the teams in the East and West regions going at it for spots in the Elite Eight. With that in mind, I’m going to take a look at what transpired in the first two rounds and take a look ahead to this weekend’s games. Tomorrow, I will take a look at the Midwest and the South. the madness approaches
Ahhh, March… one of my favorite months of the year. For one thing, it’s my birthday month. On top of that, though, the weather starts to turn towards spring, and spring training gets going in baseball.
Most of all, though, March means March Madness, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament. In my humble opinion, I think the NCAA tournament is the most exciting event in sports. The Super Bowl is right up there as well, but March Madness provides 64 games of nail-biters, buzzer-beaters, upsets, and Cinderella teams. The first four days are especially awesome, with hour after hour of intense action as the 65-team field is pared down.
I’ll be blogging about March Madness all month, leading up to and during the tournament. For me, the excitement kicks off this weekend with the Missouri Valley Conference tournament in St. Louis. With that in mind, I’m going to provide some brief thoughts on what I think will transpire this weekend: (more…)
2010 olympics: a look back
Just like that, the Winter Olympics have come and gone for another four years. Honestly, I can’t say that I watched them much this year.
Part of it was time constraints – it’s been a busy few weeks, and I definitely didn’t watch as much as I did in 2006. That being said, the Winter Olympics just don’t interest me as much as the Summer Olympics. I watched some of the curling and hockey, but not much excites me otherwise.
I was discussing this with a few people recently, and I think one major difference between the Summer and Winter Games is the variety of events. The Summer Games just bring so much to the table in terms of different types of events, while the Winter Olympics basically have events on skates, events on skis/snowboards, and events on sleds. It’s almost like having the summer games with only water-related events.
I will say that both U.S. vs. Canada hockey games were amazing and very fun to watch. Other than bits and pieces of curling and some speed-skating, though, that was all I was compelled to tune into.
